Cyberabad AHTU apprehends 38 sex workers; 11 victims rescued in week-long drive
HYDERABAD: Cyberabad Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) conducted night raids across the commissionerate between November 22 and 28, leading to the apprehension of 38 sex workers and one transgender person during a week-long special drive. Police said 11 victims were rescued and 14 accused persons were apprehended in four cases registered under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act (PITA).
Conviction in KPHB PITA case for three-year jail term
In a KPHB police station case, the accused was convicted by the Hon’ble Senior Civil Judge, Metropolitan Magistrate District Court, Kukatpally, and sentenced to three years’ rigorous imprisonment with a ₹300 fine.
SHE Teams catch 67 persons in 167 decoy operations
Cyberabad SHE Teams conducted 167 decoy operations and caught 67 persons allegedly indulging in indecent acts at public places. Police booked 86 petty cases, while the remaining offenders were counselled. SHE Teams also received 22 complaints from women through various modes.
Family counselling centres reunite 29 couples
Officials said efforts at Family Counselling Centres and CDEW Centres helped reunite 29 families involved in marital disputes.
339 people covered in awareness programmes
As part of preventive work, AHTU and SHE Teams held awareness programmes across Cyberabad. About 339 participants were sensitised on human trafficking, child trafficking, eve teasing, social media harassment, child marriages, child rights, child labour, stalking, begging, cyber bullying, cyber fraud, and other safety issues. Information on Women Helpline 181, Childline 1098, Dial 100, and Cybercrime helpline 1930 was also shared.
