Cyberabad AHTU, SHE Teams step up enforcement; 9 transgenders detained, 3 rescued

HYDERABAD: Cyberabad Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) conducted a series of night raids from October 26 to 31, leading to the apprehension of nine transgenders during a special drive against human trafficking. Officials said three victims were rescued and five accused persons were held in two cases registered under the Prevention of Immoral Traffic Act (PITA).

The AHTU also carried out awareness programmes across various localities in Cyberabad to educate communities on issues such as human trafficking, child trafficking, eve teasing, social media harassment, child marriages, child rights, child labour, stalking, begging, cyber bullying, cyber frauds, and emergency helplines including Women Helpline 181, Child Helpline 1098, Dial 100 and Cyber Crimes Helpline 1930.

142 decoy operations by SHE Teams

Cyberabad SHE Teams conducted 142 decoy operations during the same period and caught 76 persons indulging in indecent acts at public places. Petty cases were booked against 51 persons, while the others were counselled, according to officials. The unit also received 17 complaints from women victims through various communication channels.

Counselling resolves 29 family disputes

As part of its outreach initiatives, the Family Counselling Centres and Counselling and Domestic Empowerment of Women (CDEW) Centres facilitated the reunion of 29 couples involved in marital disputes.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Women & Child Safety Wing) K Srujana said the coordinated drives aimed to ensure the safety and dignity of women and children through enforcement and awareness.
