Cyberabad police step up anti-trafficking, decoy drives

HYDERABAD: Cyberabad’s Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) conducted night raids across multiple locations, apprehending ten sex workers and one transgender person during a week-long special operation. Police said they rescued one trafficking victim and arrested four persons in connection with a case under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act (PITA).

Awareness on trafficking and cyber safety
As part of the initiative, the AHTU organised awareness programmes on human trafficking, child trafficking, child marriages, social media harassment, and cyber fraud. Around 130 participants attended sessions that also covered child rights, child labour, stalking, begging, and helpline services such as Women Helpline 181, Child Helpline 1098, Dial 100, and Cybercrime Helpline 1930.

SHE Teams foil indecent acts, reunite families
Cyberabad SHE Teams carried out 135 decoy operations and caught 55 persons red-handed for indecent acts in public places. Petty cases were booked in 51 instances, while the rest were counselled. The teams also received 25 complaints from women through various modes.
In preventive measures, 72 awareness sessions were conducted, along with five counselling programmes at the Women and Children Safety Wing. Police also helped reunite 26 couples through Family Counselling Centres and Counselling & Dispute Resolution Centres (CDEW).
Deputy Commissioner of Police K Srujana said the Women & Children Safety Wing would continue its efforts to ensure the safety and wellbeing of women and children under its jurisdiction.
