Pedestrian killed by speeding car in Jeedimetla, CCTV footage goes viral

Jeedimetla: A pedestrian rammed by a speeding car died on the spot in Gajularamaram under Jeedimetla police station under Cyberabad police commissionerate. The video of the crash gained traction among the netizens who were shocked to see the fatal accident.

The deceased pedestrian was identified as Basha Gopi who used to work as a security guard. The police took the driver at the wheel, Manish Goud(20), a student and resident of Quthbullapur village.

According to Jeedimetla police, the crash occurred at GajulaRamaram and was captured on CCTV. The car bearing registration number TS 10 EE 6000 coming from Devendhar Nagar road to Gajularamaram road in a rash and negligent manner rammed pedestrian Basha Gopi

Investigation revealed that along with driver Manish Goud, his 5 friends were also travelling in the car. Five of his friends are absconding. The accused student Manish Goud sustained minor injuries and is currently under investigation by the Jeedimetla police.

Cyberabad traffic police caution motorists that they should remember that alcohol hampers vision due to dizziness and it also dampens fear and incite humans to take risks. All these factors while driving result in accidents and many times it proves fatal.

Meanwhile Cyberabad traffic police in their drive against drunk drivers to enhance road safety, apprehended 212 offenders during the weekend on Friday and Saturday nights. Cyberabad traffic police led large-scale enforcement against intoxicated drivers in commissionerate limits during the weekend. During the operation, a total of 165 two-wheelers, 10 three-wheelers, 34 four-wheelers, and 3 heavy vehicle drivers were caught for driving under the influence of alcohol.

“If anybody indulges in driving under the influence of alcohol and causes accidents resulting in fatalities, such persons will be arrested and prosecuted under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (culpable homicide not amounting to murder). The maximum punishment for this offence is 10 years of imprisonment and a fine” said Cyberad traffic police in an official statement.
