Listen to Story

HYDERABAD: The Telangana government is likely to appoint C V Anand as the next Director General of Police (DGP). Orders are expected before the end of April.
The current DGP, Shivdhar Reddy, is set to retire on April 30.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) recently sent a panel of eligible IPS officers to the state government. The list includes C V Anand, Vinayak Prabhakar Apte of the 1994 batch, and Soumya Mishra.
Among them, Anand, a 1991-batch IPS officer, is the senior-most. He is currently serving as Special Chief Secretary (Home).
In the latest IPS transfers announced on Friday, the government assigned the role of Home Secretary to Shikha Goel. This has strengthened speculation that Anand will be appointed as the next DGP.
