Criminal case filed against seven for illegal nala connections in Shamshabad

Shamshabad: A criminal case was registered on November 27, 2024, against seven individuals for illegally tapping into nala connections without permission from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) officials.
The accused, have been identified as B. Ravi, B. Krishna, B. Kumar, B. Anjaya, Mahbubi, K. Balaraj, and T. Bhaskar, are residents of Kummari Basti, Yadav Basti, and Kappagadda areas under the Shamshabad section of the HMWSSB O&M Division No. 18.
The individuals were found to have two nala connections each. During a routine field inspection by the HMWSSB officials, they were asked to provide their certificates. Upon inspection, it was discovered that they lacked the necessary certificates for one of the nala connections.
A formal complaint was lodged at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Police Station, and the electrical motors used to illegally supply water were seized. A criminal case has been filed against the seven individuals under Section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act (PDPPA), and Sections 326(A) and 303(2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The HMWSSB has issued a stern warning that criminal cases will be filed against anyone found illegally tapping into drinking water or sewerage pipelines without the proper authorisation. Residents are urged to report any illegal nala or sewerage connections to the HMWSSB vigilance team by calling 9989998100 or 9989987135.
