Ramachandra Rao accuses Congress of blocking women’s quota

HYDERABAD: Telangana BJP president Ramachandra Rao on Thursday alleged that the Congress has been conspiring to block women’s reservation and has stalled the bill for over three decades.
Addressing reporters, Rao said the Congress “has been deliberately blocking the women’s reservation bill for 35 years” and accused the party of continuing to oppose efforts aimed at ensuring quotas for women.
Calls for clarity on Revanth Reddy’s proposal
Rao also said Congress leaders should first understand Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s proposal before commenting on the issue. He did not elaborate on the specifics of the proposal.
He further criticised the opposition bloc, stating that the INDIA alliance was “anti-India in nature”.
Political exchange intensifies over reservation issue
The remarks come amid ongoing political exchanges between the BJP and Congress over women’s reservation and policy approaches in Telangana.
Rao reiterated that the BJP remains committed to implementing women’s reservation, while accusing the Congress of obstructing progress on the issue.
