BRS youth leaders file complaint against CM at Mirchowk police station
Hyderabad: In a dramatic escalation of political tensions in Telangana, youth leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) have filed a police complaint against Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for allegedly threatening former CM K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) with “death by bulldozer” during a recent public rally.
The BRS youth leaders filed a complaint against the Chief Minister with the ACP of Mir Chowk police station. The complaint highlights a controversial speech made by Revanth Reddy on November 8, 2024, in which he allegedly made disparaging remarks against KCR. The remarks included threats of violence and personal insults, which BRS leaders have condemned as inappropriate and inflammatory.
In his speech, Revanth Reddy was quoted as saying, “Today’s padayatra is just a trailer – the real journey is yet to come. I’ll have our Komatireddy Venkanna ride a bulldozer, and our MLA Samuel wave the flag. If three months in jail brought you grief, why don’t the lives of Musi’s people matter to you? Musi will be revived, and KCR will die a dog’s death if he opposes it.”
BRS youth leaders Faisal Khan, M. Sai Teja Rao, and Mir Qurram Ali jointly filed the complaint. Mir Qurram Ali, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi Vidyarthi (BRSV) wing GHMC Coordinator, stated, “The language used by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is unbecoming of a person in such a high office. Not only did he insult our party president KCR, but he also made direct threats of violence, which can incite hostility among the public and lead to unrest.”
The complainants have urged police to take immediate and stringent legal action against Revanth Reddy, citing concerns about public safety and harmony, particularly given the approaching elections. They argue that his statements not only violate the dignity of the Chief Minister’s office but also promote division and violence against political opponents.
This incident follows a series of verbal exchanges between Revanth Reddy and KCR’s BRS party, marking an increasingly tense atmosphere in Telangana’s political arena as both sides prepare for the polls. Critics of Revanth Reddy’s remarks argue that such language only exacerbates tensions between political rivals, potentially destabilizing the peaceful coexistence that the state has worked hard to maintain.
The Chief Minister’s office has not yet responded to the complaint or the allegations made by the BRS leaders.
