Cold weather continues across Telangana; Hyderabad experiences shivering mornings

Hyderabad: According to the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), temperatures across Telangana have been unusually low in the past 24 hours. Kumaram Bheem district in Sirpur recorded the lowest temperature at 6.5°C, while Kohir Mandal in Sangareddy experienced a minimum temperature of 8.9°C. In Rangareddy district, the minimum temperature in Moinabad Mandal’s Reddy Palle was 9.4°C.

In Hyderabad city, temperatures remained cold as well. The minimum temperature recorded in Uppal’s Moulali area was 10.9°C, while Ramachandrapuram’s BHEL Factory recorded 11.0°C. At the University of Hyderabad in Serilingampally, the minimum temperature was 11.4°C, while Rajendranagar’s ARS station recorded 11.7°C. Other areas like West Maredpally and Sivaramapalle in Rajendranagar reported temperatures of 12.9°C and 13.0°C, respectively.

In the Quthbullapur area, the ESS Quthbullapur station recorded 13.1°C, while the GHMC Circle office in Rajendranagar saw a slightly higher minimum of 13.9°C. Bahadurpura, near the Setwin Training Center in Suleman Nagar, recorded 14.2°C, with Alwal’s ESS Macha Bollaram station seeing 14.3°C. The same minimum temperature was recorded in Quthbullapur’s ESS Jeedimetla area. Golkonda reported 14.5°C, and the Defence Colony Comm Hall in Hayathnagar recorded 14.6°C. The warmest area in Hyderabad was New Mettuguda Primary School in Maredpally, which saw a minimum temperature of 16.8°C.

T. Balaji, a noted weather expert from Telangana Weatherman, mentioned, “The last leg of shivering cold winters across Telangana is now underway. We are seeing single-digit temperatures in North and West Telangana and temperatures ranging from 10-12°C in Hyderabad City. The mornings remain bitterly cold, and this trend will continue until January 25.”

He also noted, “Daytime temperatures will warm up, but this year’s winter will likely end by the end of January.”

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad has forecast a partly cloudy sky for Hyderabad today, with fog and misty conditions expected during the morning hours. The maximum temperature is predicted to be around 29°C, while the minimum will be around 14°C. Surface winds will be from the North East/East at speeds of 4-8 km/h.

Residents are advised to prepare for continued cold mornings, with some relief expected as temperatures warm slightly towards the end of the month.
