Cold wave intensifies across Telangana

HYDERABAD: Severe cold conditions continue to grip large parts of the country, with temperatures dropping sharply across northern India and the Telugu states over the past two weeks.
As warned earlier by the India Meteorological Department, cold wave conditions have intensified this winter, disrupting daily life. Officials said the impact of cold winds has made it difficult for people to carry out even routine activities.
Cold wave tightens grip
Telangana are witnessing unusually harsh winter conditions, with the intensity of cold showing no signs of easing. Weather officials said the cold wave is likely to persist for a few more days across both states and advised people to remain cautious.
In agency and hilly areas, the cold has been so severe that water has frozen, an uncommon occurrence for the region.
Temperatures fall sharply in Telangana
The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre said the prevailing conditions are expected to continue for the next few days. People have been advised to take adequate precautions and avoid stepping out during early morning and evening hours unless necessary.
Health experts warned that exposure to cold winds could increase the risk of seasonal illnesses.
Temperatures across Telangana have been recorded around four degrees Celsius below normal. Officials also noted a sharp drop in electricity consumption due to the cold.
Minimum temperatures recorded included 7.8 degrees Celsius in Adilabad, 8.4 degrees Celsius in Patancheru, and 12 degrees Celsius in Hyderabad, according to officials at the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre.
