Cold wave, dense fog raise accident risk in Telangana

HYDERABAD: Cold wave conditions and dense fog are making road travel increasingly dangerous across Telangana, with weather officials warning of heightened accident risks during early morning and night hours.
Dense fog has reduced visibility on several highways and arterial roads, leading to collisions even when vehicles are moving at low speeds. Officials said foggy conditions have made travel hazardous, particularly during late-night and early morning hours.
Travel advisory issued
The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre advised people to avoid travel during early mornings and nights unless absolutely necessary, citing poor visibility due to fog.
Cold to intensify over three days
Weather officials warned that cold conditions in Telangana are likely to intensify over the next three days. In some areas, minimum temperatures are being recorded between 7°C and 10°C, causing discomfort to residents.
Officials said temperatures across the state are three to four degrees below normal. Despite wearing sweaters and mufflers, people are finding it difficult to cope with the cold.
Minimum temperatures have been recorded in districts including Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Adilabad, Rajanna Sircilla, Medak, Kamareddy, Nalgonda and Hyderabad.
Officials said such levels of cold have not been experienced in the past and cautioned that people who fail to take precautions could be vulnerable to health problems.
