CM Revanth Reddy directs rehabilitation facility for poor living around Musi

Hyderabad: The Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed officials to take comprehensive steps to protect the water bodies and provide rehabilitation to the deserving poor living in the Musi catchment area and encroached lakes and ponds in Hyderabad.
During a high-level review meeting on Tuesday, the Chief Minister instructed the officials to collect details of eligible poor residents in these areas and allot them double-bedroom houses or alternative accommodation.
Emphasizing the need to conserve water bodies, CM Reddy ordered officials to take responsibility for protecting all lakes and ponds inside the Outer Ring Road. He stressed that safeguarding these water bodies is crucial to prevent natural calamities.
To curb encroachments, the Chief Minister has directed the installation of CCTVs at all ponds in the city, to be connected to the Command Control Center. Officials have also been tasked with identifying all ponds, lakes and water bodies within the ORR, demarcating the Full Tank Level and buffer zones, and submitting a detailed report.
On Metro connectivity
The meeting also discussed the progress of the Musi Riverfront Development and Hyderabad Metro Rail projects. CM Reddy ordered the preparation of a detailed report on metro connectivity from the airport to the Future City and instructed officials to expedite the expansion work in the Old City.
Regarding land acquisition challenges for metro line projects, the Chief Minister emphasized the need to resolve them promptly. He directed the officials to prepare a comprehensive Detailed Project Report on the metro expansion route and submit it to the Central government before the upcoming Dussehra festival.
The high-level review involved top officials from the Municipal Department, Hyderabad Metro Rail, and district administrations, it is mentioned that the government’s priority is to address urban development, water conservation, and infrastructure challenges in Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, HYDRAA is continuing its encroachment removal drive in certain areas of Hyderabad.
