Hyderabad Set For Road Infrastructure Boost Under Unified System

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Thursday directed officials to bring all road network-related works under a single administrative system. The move aims to improve transportation infrastructure and ensure better coordination across Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) projects.

The Chief Minister discussed the progress of major road expansion works at Bodhi Pavilion in the MCR Human Resource Development Institute. Senior officials from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and Hyderabad Road Development Corporation Limited (HRDCL) attended the meeting.

Unified system for road planning and maintenance

Revanth Reddy said the government should manage all major road infrastructure through a single integrated system. This includes land acquisition, loan procurement, road maintenance, the Outer Ring Road (ORR), the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR), flyovers, underpasses and other key road projects.

He also expressed concern over the increasing number of accidents on the ORR. According to the Chief Minister, poor maintenance and vehicles stopping at random locations have contributed to the problem. Therefore, he directed officials to strengthen regular monitoring and improve maintenance across the expressway.

Focus on radial roads and key infrastructure

The Chief Minister asked officials to speed up the construction of radial roads. He directed them to complete Radial Road-1, connecting Kongarakalan to Bharat Future City, by December 9. He also instructed them to remove all hurdles delaying the project while maintaining high construction standards.

In addition, he asked officials to develop greenery along both sides of the roads. He also directed them to begin work on the Budvel Trumpet Interchange and the elevated corridor connecting Banjara Hills with Shilpa Layout without delay.

Faster land acquisition for future growth

Revanth Reddy said Hyderabad’s future growth depends on expanding and strengthening its road network. Therefore, he instructed officials to accelerate land acquisition for major infrastructure projects.

He also directed them to implement land pooling without interference from middlemen. Furthermore, he called for the formation of a special committee to oversee the issuance of Transferable Development Rights (TDRs) and ensure greater transparency in the process.
