SCR conducts civil defence drill today; Kacheguda Railway Station among key sites

Hyderabad: A Civil Defence Mock Drill is scheduled to be conducted today, May 7, 2025, at select railway stations under the South Central Railway (SCR) as part of a pre-war preparedness initiative by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
The drill will take place at Kacheguda (Hyderabad Division), Raichur (Guntakal Division), and Aurangabad (Nanded Division) stations. These stations fall under the Civil Defence (CD) category identified for emergency response exercises.
The operation is being coordinated by Udaynath Kotla, Controller of Civil Defence and Deputy General Manager (General), South Central Railway. Civil Defence volunteers, instructors, and associated personnel will simulate a hostile attack scenario to assess emergency preparedness and inter-agency coordination.
Key activities during the drill include the sounding of air raid sirens, enforcement of blackout procedures, evacuation rehearsals, and readiness checks for firefighting, rescue operations, and basic life support services.
All departments concerned will participate in the exercise at their respective locations. Non-essential lighting will be switched off, and windows covered in accordance with Civil Defence protocols during the blackout simulation. The drill is aimed at enhancing the emergency response capabilities of railway staff and infrastructure in the event of a wartime emergency.
