Infant wins ₹16 lakh house in Choutuppal lucky draw
CHOUTUPPAL: A man in Choutuppal town of Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district devised a unique idea to sell his house plot, surprising locals with his creativity. A family won a house worth ₹16 lakh in a lucky draw organised by the owner, Kancharla Ramabrahmam.
Ramabrahmam put up his 66-square-yard plot, with a small tiled house, for sale through a lucky draw. He displayed flex boards near his house on the Hyderabad Vijayawada national highway, announcing that interested buyers could purchase a coupon worth ₹500 each to participate. “The house and land are valued at around ₹16 lakh. I printed 3,000 coupons. Buyers can write their details and drop them in a box placed near the house. The draw will be held on November 2,” he had declared.
The announcement went viral on social media, drawing participants even from outside the district. Shankar, a resident of Shankarpally in Sangareddy district, bought four coupons in the names of his family members.
The draw was conducted on Sunday in the presence of coupon holders at Jian Reddy Function Hall in Linga Reddy Gudem, within Choutuppal municipality limits. Fortune favoured Shankar’s 10-month-old daughter Hansika, whose coupon bearing serial number 2907 won the house. The organiser informed the family and promised registration at their convenience.
Ramabrahmam said he had been trying unsuccessfully for two years to sell the property. “This idea not only helped sell the house but also brought more than I expected,” he told reporters, adding that around 3,600 coupons were sold, earning about ₹3 lakh above the expected amount.
The Shankarpally family expressed happiness that their younger daughter’s name brought them such unexpected luck.
