Vehicles stranded on Hyderabad–Vijayawada highway near Chityal due to flooding

TELANGANA: Traffic congestion prevailed on the Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway near Chityal in Nalgonda district on Saturday after floodwater accumulated under the Chityal railway bridge following recent rains.

Vehicles travelling from Hyderabad towards Narketpally were moving slowly, causing a jam that stretched nearly 5 km from Pedda Kaparthi to Chityal. Commuters faced severe delays as waterlogging made it difficult for smaller vehicles to pass.

Police and road maintenance staff were deployed to manage traffic and pump out water. Drivers urged authorities to take permanent measures to prevent such flooding during rains.

According to officials, temporary arrangements are being made to divert vehicles and clear the stretch for safe movement.
