Actor Chiranjeevi supports Thaman over emotional remarks on Tollywood cinema

Hyderabad: Megastar Chiranjeevi extended his support to music director S. Thaman after the latter expressed his emotional concerns about the state of Tollywood cinema.
Chiranjeevi took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to address Thaman’s remarks, saying, “Dear @MusicThaman, the words you spoke yesterday truly touched hearts. I was a bit surprised to see such emotion from you, who is usually so playful. But then I realized that the more troubled the heart, the deeper the response. Whether it’s cinema, cricket, or any social issue, everyone using social media should think about the impact their words have on others.”
He continued, “As someone once said, words are free, but they can inspire or destroy. Choose wisely. Positive energy drives our lives forward. Thoughtful words, my dear! God bless!”
In response, Thaman expressed his gratitude and quoted a verse from the Bhagavad Gita: “Karmanye Vadhikaraste, Ma Phaleshu Kadachana.”
He added, “No matter how much we deny it, we are human, and sometimes, emotions break through the heart’s door. The pain of seeing a newborn, who has just entered this world, being torn apart even before opening its eyes—that’s the kind of pain we’re talking about. Your words, which understood me and responded with compassion, will stay with me for a lifetime. Long live Cinema.”
Thaman’s emotional outburst occurred during a success meet for Balakrishna’s Daaku Maharaaj on Friday, where he expressed his frustration with the current state of Tollywood. He said, “The whole world is watching with pride as Telugu cinema shines. Every Tamil director aspires to make films in Telugu with strong heroes, and even Malayalam directors are eager to work in our industry. This is how bright Telugu cinema is, yet we seem to be undermining it.”
He continued, “It pains me deeply, and I sometimes wonder, why are we even here? It hurts, and we must take pride in our films. It’s fine to have individual disagreements, but we should not destroy our cinema.”
Although he did not mention any specific film, Thaman urged fans to stop spreading negativity about good cinema and to support the industry’s growth.
His comments led some netizens to speculate that he might have been referring to the film Game Changer, directed by Shankar and starring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani. Social media had been highly critical of the film, with many trolls and reviews advising people to avoid it, calling it a “disastrous movie.”
