Hyderabad: Mega Star Konidela Chiranjeevi, along with his wife Surekha and actor Naga Babu Konidela, visited Allu Arjun’s residence following his arrest by the Chikkadpally Police. The arrest came in connection with a tragic stampede during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre, RTC Crossroads, Hyderabad, on December 4, 2024. The incident resulted in the death of 39-year-old Revathi and left her 13-year-old son critically injured.

Tensions had been brewing earlier between the Mega fans and Allu fans, particularly following the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections. This rivalry had further deepened in relation to advance movie bookings. However, in a surprising turn of events, the Mega family, including Chiranjeevi, visited Allu Arjun’s home in a show of support.

Following the arrest, film producer Dil Raju also visited the Chikkadpally police station to meet Allu Arjun. Chiranjeevi had planned to visit the police station as well but was reportedly advised to refrain from doing so.

Allu Arjun was arrested in connection with the stampede that occurred when he arrived at the theatre with his security team. According to the police, around 9:30 p.m., a large crowd gathered to see the actor, causing overcrowding in the lower balcony. This led to the suffocation of Revathi and her son.

In his complaint, Magudampalli Bhaskar, Revathi’s husband, recounted the incident, “My wife, Revathi, and son, Sai Tej, were in the lower balcony hall. They couldn’t breathe and collapsed due to suffocation. The police rescued them and rushed them to Durga Bai Deshmukh Hospital, but my wife was declared dead by the attending doctor.” Bhaskar added that his son, after receiving first aid, was transferred to KIMS Hospital in Begumpet for better treatment.

Bhaskar has alleged that the incident was caused by overcrowding, which he claims was facilitated by the Sandhya Theatre management and Allu Arjun’s security staff. “Without proper arrangements or facilities, allowing such a large crowd into the theatre caused chaos, forcing us to vacate our seats, which led to my wife’s death,” Bhaskar stated.

A case has been filed against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under sections 105, 118(1) r/w 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita Act. Earlier, the Chikkadpally Police arrested M. Sandeep (37), co-owner of Sandhya 70mm Theatre; M. Nagaraju (51), senior manager; and Gandhakam Vijay Chander (53), in charge of the lower balcony. After being presented in court, they were remanded to judicial custody.

The investigation is ongoing, and Allu Arjun, after a medical examination at Gandhi Hospital, is expected to be presented before the magistrate at Nampally Court.
