Actor Chiranjeevi files complaint over vulgar social media abuse

Former Union minister says abusive posts caused mental distress
HYDERABAD: Film actor and former Union minister Konidela Chiranjeevi lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime police in Hyderabad on October 26, 2025, alleging that he was subjected to vulgar and obscene abuse on social media platforms.
According to the complaint, Chiranjeevi, son of late Konidela Venkat Rao and a resident of Jubilee Hills, stated that offensive remarks, including the abusive phrase “l**** ******,” were made against him on accounts identified as “Daya Chowdary” and others. He said the individuals were unknown to him and had targeted him despite an existing court order in his favour issued by the Chief Judge, City Civil Court, Hyderabad.
Cyber Crime complaint seeks investigation
In his written representation addressed to the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Cyber Crimes, Chiranjeevi requested an investigation into the online harassment and authorised his General Counsel, Sar Chagla, to act on his behalf. He said the repeated vulgar language had caused him injury, harm to reputation, and emotional trauma.
Police officials said they had received the complaint around 21.00 IST on October 26 and were examining the matter. Further action would be initiated after preliminary verification of the handles mentioned in the actor’s complaint.
