Solar-powered CCTV installed in Moinabad temples by Chilkur Balaji team

HYDERABAD: Chilkur Balaji Temple coordinated the installation of 60 solar-powered surveillance cameras in remote village temples across the Moinabad region. These cameras offer continuous monitoring and help prevent vandalism and theft.
The initiative was led by C.S. Gopalakrishna, Hereditary Archaka and Trustee, and C.S. Rangarajan, on behalf of his father, Dr. M.V. Soundararajan, Hereditary Archaka and Trustee. They observed that many rural temples near Chilkur lack reliable power and are at risk of vandalism. Solar-powered surveillance offers a sustainable, effective solution.
The cameras support continuous monitoring, improve security, enhance devotees’ safety, and introduce eco-friendly technology to rural temples.
Chilkur priest Rangarajan thanked SBI, UBI, and the police department, noting that this initiative could serve as a replicable CSR model for temple clusters nationwide.
Chilkur Balaji Temple hosted the handover of payment to the vendor. K. Srinivasa Rao, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rajendranagar, attended and commended the initiative as a timely and essential community safety measure.
State Bank of India (SBI) sponsored 50 cameras, and Union Bank of India (UBI) contributed 10, providing significant CSR support. SBI DGM Salil Shukla and Regional Manager Nithin Kumar stated that this is the first time remote surveillance has been included in their CSR activities, making the project a scalable national model.
