BJP Telangana Vice President questions substandard RCC pipes in Radial road project

HYDERABAD: Raising serious concerns about civil engineering standards, BJP Telangana Vice President and former Uppal MLA conducted a site inspection of the under-construction radial road connecting Cherlapalli to Rampalli on Tuesday.
Former MLA NVSS Prabhakar reviewed the progress of the road works and pipe culverts with government engineers. During the inspection, the routine progress check turned into an inquiry when he saw poor construction quality and substandard reinforced concrete pipes (RCC pipes) used in the project.
Taking a closer look, the former MLA entered the laid pipeline to examine its structural integrity and material quality firsthand. In videos shared on his Instagram, he cautioned officials about pipes showing signs of premature wear and inadequate thickness, raising concerns about future collapses and drainage failures.

Addressing the engineers on site, the BJP leader expressed strong displeasure. “The poor quality of pipes and construction work is clear for everyone to see. This is unacceptable. I have brought this matter to the notice of higher authorities, and I warn that this issue will not be left unattended,” he wrote in social media.
He further stated that officials must provide a detailed technical explanation for the quality lapses. The leader emphasized that compromised civic amenities and non-compliance with engineering specifications will not be tolerated, stressing that adherence to quality assurance protocols is essential from the outset of public works projects.
Meanwhile, local residents who have waited long for better connectivity in the Cherlapalli-Rampalli corridor welcomed the inspection and demanded a full project audit. The contractor or responsible government department has yet to issue an official response.
