Cherial tahsildar caught by ACB accepting ₹70,000 bribe for NALA applications
HYDERABAD: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday caught the Tahsildar of Cherial mandal in Siddipet district allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹70,000 for processing land conversion applications.
According to the ACB, Korra Dileep Naik, Tahsildar of Cherial mandal, was caught red-handed at his office at around 14.40 IST on July 6, 2026, while demanding and accepting the bribe from a complainant.
Bribe linked to NALA conversion applications
The ACB said the amount was allegedly demanded for processing 11 applications under the Non-Agricultural Lands Assessment (NALA) provisions. Eight of the applications had already been processed. The applications pertained to Survey Nos. 833/B, 833/C, 833/D, 833/E, 834/B, 834/C, 834/D and 834/E, covering an extent of 30 guntas in Nagapuri village, in the names of Jamuna Kanakamma and others.
Officials recovered the tainted cash of ₹70,000 from the possession of the accused officer.
Officer arrested, probe continues
The ACB said the officer had performed his public duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain an undue advantage.
The accused was arrested and will be produced before the II Additional Special Judge for Trial of SPE and ACB Cases, Hyderabad. The investigation is in progress.
The identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons.
The ACB appealed to the public to report any demand for bribes by public servants through its toll-free helpline 1064. Complaints can also be lodged through WhatsApp (9440446106), Facebook (Telangana ACB) and X (@TelanganaACB). The bureau said the identity of complainants would be kept confidential.
