Three arrested, receiver held in Chengicherla house break-in series
Hyderabad: Police in Malkajgiri Commissionerate have arrested three persons and a receiver in connection with a series of house-breaking by night cases reported from Chengicherla limits.
Special teams crack night-time thefts in Chengicherla
According to police, the arrests were made by teams from the Central Crime Station (CCS), Uppal, and Medipally Police Station following an investigation into multiple burglaries reported in January.
The accused allegedly targeted locked houses during night hours, gaining illegal entry and stealing cash, gold ornaments and other valuables. Four cases were registered at Medipally police station under Sections 331(4) and 305(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Accused traced to Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar
Police said the accused were identified using technical evidence, CCTV footage and local intelligence. They were apprehended in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh and brought to Hyderabad on transit warrants.
Those arrested were identified as Mahadev Jha and Pawan Gupta alias Pawan Kumar, both residents of Delhi, and Mangal Singh from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. A receiver, Seeram Sav Beerendra, a resident of Bihar, was also arrested.
Cash, mobiles seized; accused linked to earlier cases
During the operation, police seized four mobile phones and ₹2,04,000 in cash from the accused.
Investigators said the three main accused were involved in all four Chengicherla cases registered this year. Police records show that some of the accused have been previously booked in house-breaking, theft and Arms Act cases in Delhi and Telangana, with several cases still pending investigation.
Nine houses targeted in one night
Police said the offences occurred on the intervening night of January 15 and 16, 2026, when the accused allegedly broke into nine houses in Kanaka Durga Colony, Chengicherla, and fled with stolen property. Further investigation is continuing to trace additional links and recover remaining stolen articles, police added.
