Six Injured After Slab Collapses At Charminar Shopping Complex

Hyderabad: Six people, including four women, were injured when part of the roof slab of an old shopping complex in Machili Kaman, Charminar, collapsed on the night of Thursday, March 20, 2025.

The incident occurred while people were shopping in the area for the Ramzan festival. Four of the injured were taken to Osmania General Hospital, while the others were sent to a nearby hospital. The injuries sustained were reported as minor.

Charminar police arrived at the site shortly after the incident and provided first aid to the injured. An investigation into the cause of the collapse is ongoing.

Charminar MLA Mir Zufelqar Ali visited the scene and raised concerns about public safety. He pointed out that the collapse happened because the stucco on the roof slab was not applied properly. Ali called on the GHMC commissioner to take strict action against those responsible for the poor repair work.

The MLA also mentioned that a similar accident had happened before and questioned the quality of materials used in the restoration. “The government is spending a lot of money to restore these historic buildings, and if the repairs are not done properly, there needs to be accountability,” Ali said.
