Chaos prevail during Ganesh procession as suspicious couple caught by locals near Charminar

Hyderabad: A mild chaotic scene unfolded while the Ganesh idol immersion procession was passing through Charminar under the heavy bandobust of police in Hyderabad. The processionists were caught by surprise as locals caught a suspiciously moving burqa-clad woman and her boyfriend. The incident occurred within Charminar police station limits on Tuesday.
The locals, who were cooperating with the police in maintaining the law and order, found a couple wandering aimlessly near the historic monument. They immediately alerted the police officials and handed over the couple to them averting a major disturbance during the Ganesh idol immersion procession.
Subsequently, the burqa-clad woman identified herself as Shruti and her boyfriend as Srikanth. They told the police that they were residents of Warangal and visited Hyderabad to witness the famous Old City Ganesh idol procession. The police contacted their parents and released them.
Meanwhile, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) announced that more than one lakh two thousand Ganesh idols were immersed on Tuesday. Majority of immersions are set to be finished by this afternoon.
