HYDERABAD: Police on Saturday arrested four accused for allegedly assaulting a youth who later died of injuries in Chandrayangutta.

Dispute from six months ago leads to fatal assault

Inspector R Gopi and Detective Inspector B Ramaswamy, along with sub-inspectors S Chandr Reddy and J Kiran Kumar, briefed the case. Assistant Commissioner of Police A Sudhakar of Chandrayangutta division said the incident stemmed from an earlier dispute.

Mohammed Salman, 23, a plumber, lived with his mother Sajida Begum in a rented house at Narkipool Bagh, Ahmed Colony. On March 23, in the early hours, he and his friend Mohammed Irfan, 27, were returning after attending an Eid gathering.

At that time, Syed Abdullah, 20, who runs a pan shop, along with Syed Aman, 20, a welder, Shaik Mateen, 25, an electrician from Kandikal Gate, and Mohammed Sarwar, 20, a mechanic, stopped them.

Victim dies days after attack despite treatment

Police said Abdullah held a grudge over a quarrel six months ago and, along with the others, attacked Salman. When Irfan tried to intervene, he was pushed aside. Despite pleas from Salman’s mother, the accused continued the assault and fled after injuring him.

A case was registered after initial treatment. Salman’s condition worsened and he died on Friday.

Police arrested the four accused near Falaknuma railway station and remanded them in judicial custody.
