Damaged Manjeera Pipeline road

Chandanagar: Residents of the city, especially those who are commuting through the Manjeera pipeline road passing from the Chandanagar to Madinaguda are reeling with the deteriorated road condition for the last four years. This ordeal has forced them to begin a change.org petition requesting for a better infrastructural facility. The online petition so far has received over 2,500 signatures in the span of a week.

The petition read, “I am a taxpayer, a resident and a regular commuter of the Manjeera Pipeline road, spanning from Chandanagar to Madinaguda. Everyday, citizens like me shell out hard-earned money in the form of taxes, and in return, we expect basic public utilities and infrastructural necessities. An integral element of these necessities is roadway conditions.”

It further said that the condition of the Manjeera pipeline has deteriorated from the last four years, making their daily commute challenging. “GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) and HMWSSB (Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board) have turned a blind eye to this plight, despite numerous complaints from residents. This road isn’t just a navigational path for us, it is a symbol of our lives, our progress, our mobility. The current state of this road detracts from our quality of life and signals a disregard for our rights as taxpayers,” added the petition.

Forcing us to wrong drive, residents

Residents also say that the poor condition of the road forced them to drive on the wrong side with the poor condition of the road. Raghu Nandan Chetty, a resident, said, the road has “became very bad and forced to drive on the wrong route. And this is from a very long time. Don’t know who will take care of this and we are paying all taxes timely.”

Another resident Hariharnath Dubey said, “I am worried about Manjeera road conditions, the nation’s lakhs of litres of diesel petrol burnt in this 2-3 km section. Any day fatal accidents can happen as wrong side driving is the only way to travel. It’s under the nose of Chandanagar GHMC but still it’s ignored. This is highest tax paying zone of Hyderabad still Govt official don’t care of sentiments of residents.”

Residents insist GHMC and HMWSSB

The petition further added the attention of the respective civic bodies – GHMC and HMWSSB. “We insist on immediate, urgent, and visionary action regarding the deplorable condition of the Manjeera Pipeline road,” read the petition.
