Not going home to celebrate Sankranti? Here’s how you can soak in the festive spirit

Not Going Home For Sankranti Celebrate With Festivities In Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Every year during Sankranti or Makar Sankranti festival, fully packed city roads wear a deserted look while the focus is shifted to the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway where one can witness never-ending lines of cars, buses and other transport vehicles queuing up at toll plazas.

Due to some reason you could not go home to celebrate the Makar Sankranti and are looking to join the festivities in Hyderabad city then Shilparamam is the place you want to be.

Shilparamam Hyderabad and Development of Commissioner Handicrafts have come together to organize the ‘National Mela’ in the city. As part of this, Gandhi Shilp Bazaar National Mela and Sankranti celebrations are being held at Madhapur Shilparamam from January 8 to 17. The visitors will get to see and buy handicraft products from different states at Shilparamam.

Wooden dolls, folk painting, hand-printed dress materials and saris, silver filigree, Bidri art, bamboo, cane, lace work, Bastar iron craft, Zari Jardozi, toys, dry flowers and many other handicrafts will be on display at the mela.

Sankranti festivities are being organized at Shilparamam Madhapur as well as Uppal campus. The January 13 to 15 fest will showcase a beautiful village atmosphere featuring Gangireddulu, which symbolizes gratitude of people towards cattle, Haridasulu Budabukkalu and Jangamadevarulu.

For the Bhogi festival, Shilparamam had organized ‘Bhogi palla utsavam’ for children. Additionally, they are also hosting a variety of cultural programmes from 5.30 pm onwards.

Kite festival in Hyderabad

You can also head to the Parade Grounds and participate in the 7th International Kite Festival. The three-day event (January 13-15) is being organized by the state’s tourism, language, and culture department, bringing together a vibrant mix of domestic and international kite flyers.

The festival will showcase over 100 skilled kite flyers from 17 countries and various Indian states, offering spectacular kite shows until Wednesday evening.
