Listen to Story
News in short:
The Telangana government has announced a second chance for households that were missed during the recent SEEEPC (Socio-Economic, Educational, Employment, Political, and Caste) survey. This comes after concerns were raised about the incomplete caste census, particularly in Hyderabad, which led to a drop in the region's reported percentage of the Backward Class (BC) population. The government has provided three methods for these households to complete their enumeration: 1. Calling a toll-free number to schedule an enumerator's visit. 2. Visiting a Praja Palana Seva Kendra (PPSK) to fill out the survey form. 3. Downloading and submitting the form online. District Collectors and the GHMC Commissioner have been instructed to ensure the smooth execution of this process. The Telangana Commission for Backward Classes has requested an investigation into the matter and is seeking detailed information from the GHMC regarding the survey coverage.
Caste Survey: Telangana Govt offers missed households another chance to enroll by Feb 28

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has announced a second chance for households that were house-listed but could not be surveyed during the recent Socio-Economic, Educational, Employment, Political, and Caste (SEEEPC) Survey. The window for these households to complete their enumeration will be open from February 16 to February 28, 2025.

A total of 3,56,323 households across the state were left out of the survey due to reasons such as locked houses or residents opting out. To ensure these households are covered, the government has outlined three methods for enumeration:

1. Toll-Free Number: Households can call 040-21111111 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to schedule an enumerator’s visit after call validation.

2. Praja Palana Seva Kendras (PPSK): Residents can visit their nearest PPSK, located at MPDO offices in rural areas and Ward Offices in urban areas, to fill out the survey form with assistance from trained staff.

3. Online Form: The survey form can be downloaded from https://seeepcsurvey.cgg.gov.in. After filling and signing the form, it can be submitted at the nearest PPSK.

District Collectors and the GHMC Commissioner have been instructed to ensure the smooth execution of the process.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Telangana Commission for Backward Classes (BC), G. Niranjan, raised concerns regarding the incomplete caste census in Hyderabad. Despite the survey covering 1,12,15,134 households out of a total of 1,15,71,457, a significant number of households, mainly in the GHMC area, were left out. This led to a drop in the region’s reported percentage of the Backward Class (BC) population.

The Telangana Commission for Backward Classes highlighted complaints from residents claiming they were missed during the survey. Several areas in Hyderabad reportedly did not receive enumerator visits. The Commission has requested an investigation into the matter and sought detailed information from the GHMC, including the total population and households covered in the survey, the number of enumeration blocks, and a list of enumerators and their contact details.
