Case filed for obstructing HYDRAA demolition

Hyderabad: The Madhapur police have registered a case against three individuals for obstructing a demolition operation ordered by the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA) officials at Sunnam Cheruvu in Guttalabegumpet on September 8, 2024.

The case was filed based on a complaint from A. Lakshminarayana, 44, an Assistant Executive Engineer with the North Tanks Division in Buddhabhavan, Secunderabad, and a resident of Kukatpally, Hyderabad.

In his complaint, Lakshminarayana stated that while performing his official duties on September 8, 2024, as directed by the HYDRAA team, he was carrying out a demolition operation of illegal constructions in the Full Tank Level (FTL) zone. The incident occurred at Survey No. 12, Sunnam Cheruvu, Madhapur, Guttalabegumpet, around 11:30 a.m.

According to the complaint, the owners of the illegal constructions, have been identified as Venkatesh (35), a driver; Lakshmi, Venkatesh’s wife (28), a daily wage earner; and Naresh, Venkatesh’s brother (28), also a driver, obstructed Lakshminarayana’s work by threatening self-immolation. They reportedly poured kerosene over their bodies to prevent the demolition.

Lakshminarayana reported that the accused threatened to self-immolate, thereby hindering his ability to perform his duties as a public servant. The complaint led to the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) under Cr. No: 1193/2024, U/sec. 132 r/w 3(5) BNS. The case has been handed over to Sub-Inspector Jadhav Vittal for further investigation.

The police are currently investigating the case, as the complaint requested necessary legal action against the accused for obstructing a public servant from carrying out lawful duties.
