Case Filed After Designer Sarees Worth Rs. 12 Lakhs Stolen At Exhibition In Jubilee Hills

Hyderabad: A case has been registered at the Jubilee Hills Police Station following the theft of designer sarees worth Rs 12 lakhs at a textile exhibition in Hyderabad.

According to the FIR, Anjana Devi Danda, a 50-year-old businesswoman from Kondapur, Hyderabad, and the owner of a boutique named “Anu Six Yards” in Bangalore, filed a complaint on March 10, 2025. Anjana Devi Danda had organized an exhibition-cum-live show in Hyderabad on March 8, 2025, to celebrate Women’s Day. The event took place at Dhaara Café and Bistro, located near Peddamma Temple in Jubilee Hills.

While packing up the exhibition around 7 p.m., Anjana Devi Danda and her team discovered that seven sarees, valued at over Rs 12 lakhs, were missing from their racks. Upon reviewing the café’s security footage the next day, Anjana Devi Danda found that a group of six women had distracted the crew and stolen the sarees by concealing them in their clothing. The theft occurred between 12:40 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.

A pen drive containing the security footage has been submitted with the complaint. Based on the information provided, Sub-Inspector K. Janaiah of Jubilee Hills Police Station has registered a case under Sections 318(4) and 303(2) BNS. The case has been handed over to R. Madhusudhan, the Deputy Inspector of Police, for further investigation.
