Car overturns in Punjagutta, passengers hurt
Punjagutta: A speeding car reportedly overturned on Saturday early morning, October 19, 2024, resulting in minor injuries to the passengers inside in Punjagutta. The incident occurred near Praja Bhavan in Punjagutta.
Locals reported that the car was traveling at high speed before it lost control and overturned. They immediately notified the Punjagutta police, who promptly arrived at the scene. The injured passengers, all young men, were treated for minor injuries.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident is currently underway.
This incident highlights a troubling trend in Hyderabad, where numerous car accidents occur daily, often resulting in loss of life and significant damage. Earlier, on August 18, 2024, four individuals were injured when their BMW collided with a road divider at Masab Tank around 7:30 a.m.
The vehicle was travelling from Khairatabad towards Banjara Hills. The car, driven by Jitesh Bhagga, carried two men and two women. Witnesses assisted the injured, who were subsequently transported to a private hospital for medical treatment.
Another serious incident took place on August 3 in Ibrahim Bagh, under the Golconda Police Station limits, where a 7-year-old boy lost his life, and his parents were injured after their bike was struck by a car driven by an intoxicated driver.
The driver, identified as Srinath, was reportedly under the influence of alcohol and driving on the wrong side of the road. Eyewitnesses confirmed the driver’s impaired state, and Srinath has since been arrested. An investigation is ongoing.
Additionally, on August 2, a 19-year-old BBA student named Charan from ICFAI University died in a high-speed crash into a flyover near Raidurgam. Charan, who was returning home from BNR Hills, lost control of his Swift Dzire, resulting in severe damage and his death on the spot. Police have determined that overspeeding was the cause of the accident.
