C.V. Anand takes charge as Hyderabad Police Commissioner

Hyderabad: C.V. Anand (IPS 1991) assumed office as the Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, for the second time on Monday, September 9, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. The official ceremony took place at the TG ICCC Building, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.
Speaking on the occasion, Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve once again in this role. “I am happy to take over as Hyderabad CP for the second time. Thanks to the Chief Minister for giving me this opportunity. With festivals like Vinayaka Chaturthi and Milad-un-Nabi approaching, we are committed to ensuring these events proceed peacefully. Last year, when two festivals coincided, we managed to handle the situation calmly, and this year, our action plan is fully prepared.”
C.V. Anand said, “We will conduct a review meeting with officials to discuss festival arrangements. It is crucial to clarify that ‘Friendly Policing’ is an integral part of our approach, but we will continue to crack down on criminal activities across the city. The state government is determined to tackle the issue of drugs and marijuana, and we will be thoroughly investigating the phone tapping case as well.”
C.V. Anand has been transferred from his position as Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and will now succeed Kothakota Sreenivasa Reddy (IPS 1994) as Hyderabad’s Police Commissioner.
Regarding his transfer, Anand said on X, “I appreciate the kind words about the work accomplished by ACB officers with limited resources. While I am transitioning to a new role, I am confident that the anti-corruption drive will continue under my successor, Vijay Kumar, who is a competent officer.”
Thanks everyone for your kind words for the work turned out by ACB officers with very limited resources. Let us not feel disappointed as I am sure the drive will continue under my successor Mr Vijay Kumar who is a very capable officer https://t.co/M08fhw8kD8
