Addressing a press conference, Anand thanked Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and the state government for entrusting him with the role. He said he would work to meet government expectations and ensure public security.

Anand said maintaining law and order and improving crime investigation remain core priorities. He added that policing systems would be strengthened using advanced technology to match changing needs.

Shift towards proactive policing and early detection

He said Telangana Police is moving towards proactive policing by anticipating and preventing crimes. Early detection systems would be strengthened, as minor issues can escalate if ignored.

Anand said women’s safety and prevention of child trafficking would receive priority. He also flagged rising cybercrime and drug abuse among youth, stating that the Cyber Security Bureau would be strengthened. Anti-drug committees will be set up in educational institutions.

Road safety bureau, crackdown on organised crimes planned

A dedicated Traffic Management and Road Safety Bureau will be established to ensure uniform enforcement of traffic rules. He warned of strict action against crimes such as theft, food adulteration, real estate fraud, betting and smuggling.

On restructuring, Anand said personnel from anti-Naxal units like Greyhounds and Special Intelligence Branch (SIB) would be redeployed to cybercrime and narcotics control.

AI, drones and inter-agency coordination to be expanded

Anand said departments like Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) would be strengthened. Coordination between departments will be improved.

He said artificial intelligence and drone technology would be expanded in policing. Collaboration with organisations such as Google will be explored, including traffic signal synchronisation.

Police personnel will be trained as first responders with HYDRA and the Fire Department. A drive will repair non-functional CCTV cameras, and AI will be used in documentation to improve investigation accuracy.

Naxalism largely eradicated; phone tapping probe near completion

Anand said left-wing extremism has largely been eliminated in Telangana and urged remaining individuals to join the mainstream through rehabilitation schemes.

He said the phone tapping case investigation is nearing completion and a charge sheet will be filed soon. He cautioned against misuse of social media but said freedom of expression will be respected.

Concluding, Anand said he would adopt a “macro-management” approach, giving operational freedom to field officers while monitoring performance through regular crime review meetings.
