BRS stands with affected residents of Musi River project: KTR
Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president and former minister KT Rama Rao dared the chief minister A Revanth Reddy to prioritize the implementation of six guarantees instead of displacing the poor people from their homes.
Addressing the affected residents who are living in the catchment areas of Musi River in Golnaka, Amberpet on Tuesday, the BRS leader said the party stands with them in their fight against the injustices being done to them in the name of Musi Riverfront Development Project.
He exhorted the people to form WhatsApp groups and alert each other and call the local BRS party leaders if they see the government officials armed with JCB machines come to their neighbourhood to raze down their structures. He stated that the people in the Musi River neighbourhood have been in agony ever since the State government announced the plan to rejuvenate the riverfront. .
Former minister recalled the former BRS party’s plan for the rejuvenation of the Musi River and said the KCR-led government withdrew it after considering the huge displacement of people in the riverbed areas.
He alleged that the Revanth Reddy government is spending Rs. 1.50 lakh crores to develop a 55-km stretch with amusement parks, children’s watersports and business arenas along the river while the estimated costs for the project is about Rs. 16 crores.
Under the Musi River Front Development project, the Telangana government is preparing to form a tourism circuit by connecting all the historical structures in the vicinity of the Musi River such as Charminar, Qutub Shahi Tombs and Golconda.
