HYDERABAD: Legislators of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), led by party working president K T Rama Rao, staged a protest near Gun Park at the Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial on Monday. They demanded a discussion in the Telangana Legislative Assembly on the Congress government’s six guarantees.

BRS MLAs and MLCs wore black badges during the demonstration. The leaders alleged that the government had failed to provide legal backing to the guarantees even after two-and-a-half years.

The protest coincided with the ongoing budget session of the Telangana Legislative Assembly. BRS leaders said the guarantees promised by the Congress government had not been implemented in full.

They insisted that the issue be taken up for discussion in the Assembly and Legislative Council.

KTR alleges financial mismanagement

Addressing reporters, K T Rama Rao accused the government of financial mismanagement. He said the BRS would continue to raise the issue in the Assembly and the Council.

“The party will question the government on behalf of the poor,” he said, adding that the opposition would persist with its demand for clarity on the guarantees.
