Brs Party Mlcs Stage Protest Urging Priyanka Gandhi To Fulfill Free Scooter Promise

Hyderabad: BRS Party MLCs, led by Kavitha, staged a protest in the Telangana Legislative Council today, March 18, 2025, holding scooter-shaped placards and raising slogans to remind Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi of her party’s election promise to provide free electric scooters to 18-year-old girls in the state.

The protesters chanted, “Priyanka Ji, scooty kaha hey?” (Where are the scooters Priyanka Gandhi?), questioning the delay in fulfilling the promise. Despite being in power for 15 months, the Congress government has yet to deliver on its commitment to provide scooters to female students, a key pledge made during the elections.

This protest follows another by BRS MLCs on March 17, 2025, when they wore garlands made of chilies to demand that the state government implement a support price of Rs 25,000 per quintal for chili farmers. The party is also urging NAFED and MARKFED to procure chili crops immediately.

BRS leaders expressed concern over the decline in chili cultivation in the state, which has dropped by 2.4 lakh acres this season due to low prices. They called for steps to export Telangana’s chili crops abroad and for the inclusion of Telangana chili in the Spices Board’s food crop list.

Additionally on March 16, 2025, BRS MLCs have raised demands for a Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs 15,000 per quintal for turmeric, again highlighting Congress’s unfulfilled promises made during the elections.
