BRS Leader files complaint against Telangana CM Revanth Reddy over Formula E cancellation

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party leader and former IPS officer RS Praveen Kumar filed a complaint against Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy at the Narsingi police station on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. The complaint accuses Revanth Reddy of criminal breach of trust and causing a substantial financial loss to the state following the abrupt cancellation of the Formula E race event in Hyderabad.

In his complaint, RS Praveen requested the police to name CM Revanth Reddy as the prime accused in the matter.

In his statement, he criticized Revanth Reddy for allegedly causing harm to Telangana by publicizing corruption that he claims resulted from poor decisions.

“I have filed a complaint against the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Telangana, Revanth Reddy, for indulging in criminal breach of trust under Section 316 BNS,” RS Praveen wrote on his official social media handle.

He further argued that the CM violated his oath of office, taken on December 6, 2023, to govern the state constitutionally. “Instead of upholding the Constitution, he is taking actions out of personal malice. His premature termination of the Formula E agreement not only led to a loss of ₹55 crore in investment but also robbed Telangana of an opportunity to develop a major e-mobility hub, which could have created thousands of jobs,” RS Praveen added.

He also drew a comparison between the Formula E race and the Telangana government’s “Kite Festival,” which was organized by the Department of Tourism. Both events were government-sponsored, aimed at promoting the state’s image, but RS Praveen questioned why one was considered acceptable while the other was not.

“I have urged the Narsingi police to investigate what led the CM to cancel the agreement, which resulted in my tax money becoming a wasted investment. I hope the police conduct a fair investigation,” he said.

RS Praveen also expressed his appreciation for BRS President and former chief minister KCR, stating, “Thanks a million for thinking big for Telangana.”
