BRS Leader Kavitha admitted to hospital in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) Kavitha was admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad on October 1, 2024 (Tuesday) this morning for a medical check-up.
According to the reports, her medical tests are expected to be completed by this evening.
Kavitha’s health has been a concern, particularly during her recent five-month imprisonment in Tihar Jail related to the Delhi excise policy case. She experienced several medical issues during her time in custody, including gynaecological problems and recurring high fever. Previous medical tests conducted at AIIMS in Delhi confirmed her gynaecological issues.
On August 27, 2024, the Supreme Court granted Kavitha bail in the ongoing investigation led by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The court found that the lower court had misapplied legal provisions in denying her bail.
Following her release, Kavitha reunited with family members and party workers outside the jail complex, including her brother, K. Taraka Rama Rao, the working president of the BRS, as well as her husband, Anil Kumar, and son. BRS leaders, including Harish Rao, were also present to welcome her.
Upon her release, an emotional Kavitha stated, “I am stubborn. This illegal arrest only makes me more determined. I will fight back and pay back with interest.” She said her belief that her imprisonment was politically motivated, vowing to prove her innocence in the matter.
Kalvakuntla Kavitha has been serving as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) for Nizamabad since 2020. She is affiliated with the Bharat Rashtra Samithi party and previously served as a Member of Parliament for the Nizamabad Lok Sabha Constituency from 2014 to 2019. Kavitha is the daughter of K. Chandrasekhar Rao, the former Chief Minister of Telangana.
