BRS leader Harish discharged; Congress leaders demand suspension of Kaushik Reddy
Hyderabad: In a series of political incidents unfolding in Hyderabad, former Minister and MLA Harish Rao has been discharged from AIG Hospital on September, 13, 20224. Harish Rao was admitted after injuring his left hand during a police scuffle the previous day. Following medical tests and physiotherapy, he has now been released.
Meanwhile, Congresswomen leaders have submitted a formal complaint to the Speaker, demanding the immediate suspension of Kaushik Reddy from his MLA position. Their complaint is based on Kaushik Reddy’s recent controversial remarks, which they find offensive and unacceptable. Kaushik Reddy had stated, “I will send gifts to 10 defected MLAs, such as bangles and sarees, and I ask all the defected MLAs to wear them and resign from the party.” They argue that such comments are hurtful and degrading to women, prompting their complaint to the Speaker.
Minister Komatireddy criticises opposition tactics
Responding to the ongoing conflict, Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has sharply criticised the opposition, accusing them of staging a ‘drama’ to revive a ‘dead party.’ He also challenged Kaushik Reddy’s claims and alleged that the BRS is exploiting regional sentiments to tarnish Hyderabad’s reputation.
Arekapudi Gandhi calls for Kaushik Reddy’s suspension from BRS
Arekapudi Gandhi has called on BRS Chief KCR to take disciplinary action against Kaushik Reddy. Gandhi said that there is a need to address statements that could undermine the system and warned that if higher officials fail to act, legislative measures might be pursued.
MLA Marri Rajasekhar Reddy placed under house arrest
Adding to the unrest, Malkajgiri MLA and BRS leader Marri Rajasekhar Reddy has been placed under house arrest by police. Authorities have been stationed at his residence in Boyinapalli to prevent his departure.
The conflict escalated when MLA Kaushik Reddy challenged Arekapudi Gandhi to hoist the BRS flag at his residence by 11 a.m. on September 12, 2024, or face consequences. Gandhi threatened to visit Kaushik Reddy’s home if the challenge was not met.
The situation began with Gandhi’s recent appointment as PAC chairman following his defection to BRS. Kaushik Reddy had publicly criticised Gandhi and other defected MLAs, calling for their disqualification and either resignation or public disgrace.
The tension intensified as Gandhi and his supporters camped outside Reddy’s house, demanding his presence or forced entry.
