BRS hails High Court order on Group-I, Calls it ‘Defeat for Congress’

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court’s decision to cancel the Group-I Mains examination results and order re-evaluation or fresh exams has triggered a fierce political battle, with the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) launching a scathing attack on the Congress government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. The political slugfest continues as both parties gear up for a prolonged battle, with unemployed youth and students caught in the crossfire.

Former Minister and BRS senior leader T Harish Rao accused the government of “messing with the lives of students by conducting examinations unfairly.” Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he demanded an apology from the CM, saying, “Due to your negligence in hastily conducting exams and indulging in irregularities, students and the unemployed are suffering. The Congress government, which makes empty promises, lacks even the basic competence to conduct exams properly.”

He further took a dig at Revanth Reddy and said, “Conducting exams and providing government jobs is not about inciting students and the unemployed to engage in petty politics, Revanth Reddy.” And advised Reddy that, “Open your eyes. Bow your head in shame for your negligence and deceitful attitude. Apologize to the youth of Telangana.”

‘Apologise to Youth’: BRS targets CM after HC verdict

During a press conference at Telangana Bhawan, BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy alleged a massive scam, claiming, “Revanth Reddy took money and sold Group-I posts. The CBI should investigate him.”

The BRS also criticised the examination process, highlighting irregularities in hall ticket issuance, exam centre allocation, and the low selection rate of Telugu-medium students. “Paper leaks happened during BRS rule too, but KCR cancelled the exams. Why didn’t Revanth Reddy cancel?” questioned BRS leader Reddy.

The court’s verdict comes amid allegations of irregularities in the evaluation process, with petitioners claiming unscientific and arbitrary assessment of answer scripts. The Telangana High Court has cancelled the previously announced General Merit List (GRL) for the Group-I Mains examinations of the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TGPSC). Telangana High Court Justice Namavarapu Rajeshwar Rao pronounced the judgment to conduct a complete re-evaluation of all answer scripts through a transparent process on Tuesday. Further, he set a time of eight months for the process to be completed.

The High Court ordered a re-evaluation of Group-I Mains examination papers and re-disclosure of results. If not possible, it should give an opportunity to the candidates who have qualified in Prelims by re-conducting the examinations. The High Court ordered TGPSC to complete either the re-evaluation or the re-conducting of the examination within eight months.
