Revanth Naveen Yadav

Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Wednesday filed a formal complaint with the Election Commission of India and the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer against Indian National Congress candidate Naveen Yadav, contesting from the 61-Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency, for allegedly issuing public threats and using criminally intimidating language during a campaign event.

In the complaint, signed by BRS MLA Gangula Kamalakar, the party alleged that Yadav made “threatening and abusive statements” during a public interaction that was broadcast live on multiple television and digital media platforms on October 29, 2025.
BRS claimed Yadav’s remarks  that opposition leaders “will be crushed” and “taught a lesson”  created “fear in the electorate” and attempted to obstruct its campaign in the constituency.

The party said the speech amounted to criminal intimidation and a “gross violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).” It urged the Election Commission to register a case under Sections 124, 127, 182 and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which relate to promoting enmity, undue electoral influence, and criminal intimidation.

BRS also sought Yadav’s immediate disqualification and debarment from campaigning and requested the EC to direct media houses to furnish raw footage of his remarks for evidence collection. The party further asked for police protection for its leaders and workers, citing fears of retaliation.

Complaint also targets CM Revanth Reddy for ‘inducement to voters’

In a separate representation, the BRS accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of violating the Model Code of Conduct by making promises to film industry workers a major voter segment in the Jubilee Hills constituency during a felicitation meeting, the video of which is available on YouTube.

The complaint stated that, despite a prior representation on October 27, 2025, no preventive action had been taken. It alleged that Reddy’s remarks amounted to inducement of voters, in violation of Clause II(1) of Annexure-10, Chapter IV, Para 4.11 of the Election Commission’s Handbook for Candidates, which bars ministers from announcing new schemes or grants during elections.

The BRS urged the Commission to debar Revanth Reddy from further campaigning, remove his name from the list of Congress star campaigners, and book a case under relevant provisions of the BNS and Representation of the People Act. It also demanded that expenses for the meeting be added to Congress candidate Naveen Yadav’s campaign expenditure.

The complaints, both dated October 29, 2025, were submitted to the Chief Election Commissioner in New Delhi, the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer, and the Returning Officer for Jubilee Hills.
