BRS releases charge sheet on civic issues in Manikonda, Neknampur
HYDERABAD: In a bid to hold the Congress-led Telangana state government accountable, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Rajendranagar in-charge Patlolla Karthik Reddy led a public meeting near the Marrichettu banyan tree on Wednesday evening. At the event, party members released a list of complaints about civic problems in the Manikonda and Neknampur municipal divisions.
These issues included neglected roads, poor infrastructure, and promises for development that have not been kept. As part of a party-wide plan, the meeting brought many local people together. As a result, attendees demanded more transparency and faster government action.
Party leaders made the list of complaints after talking with many local residents. For example, some major problems are the state of Ambedkar Bhavan and the bad condition of the crematorium road in Puppalguda. Both have been ignored for a long time, even after repeated requests for repairs.
The charge sheet also drew attention to the Bulkapur Nala, which has been a recurring source of flooding and health hazards for local communities, and called for greater transparency regarding the newly constructed municipal building, specifically in its utilisation and maintenance.
Furthermore, the document asked for money to be given for the cricket ground, which was promised to local youth but never built. The party also wants to keep the old property tax system so that residents are not burdened with higher costs.
The party also wants to know how much was spent on underground drainage pipelines. In addition, they asked for more details about road-widening projects and moving electric poles, which have made it hard for people to walk and for traffic. Other issues include giving house numbers to people in Nemali Nagar, documents about empty plots in Chitrapuri Colony, and public welfare work in Alkapur Township were among the other issues flagged in the charge sheet.
During the meeting, Karthik Reddy criticized the Congress government for not meeting the basic needs of citizens. He said the ruling party made big promises during the election, but did not deliver. Additionally, he accused the government of not listening to public opinion or the concerns of other political parties.
The charge sheet, he said, was not merely a political document, but a reflection of the daily struggles endured by thousands of residents in Manikonda and Neknampur, and pledged to continue advocating for their rights through sustained public mobilization and constructive engagement with the authorities.
Many local residents and party workers attended the event. They supported the BRS leadership and agreed with the demands in the list. The party said it will give the list to the district administration and the state government, asking for quick action on the problems and for an explanation of how government money is being used.
Karthik Reddy also warned that there will be more protests if the government does not respond to the list of complaints soon. He said the BRS will keep pushing the Congress government to keep its promises.
