BRS accuses Congress of vendetta against KCR

HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Tuesday accused the Congress government in Telangana of indulging in political vendetta by issuing notices to former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, calling it an attempt to divert public attention from its governance failures.
In a statement, the party said Rao had led a long and arduous struggle with the resolve of either achieving Telangana or laying down his life, and emerged as the leader who delivered statehood. It said he later showcased Telangana to the world through a decade of governance.
The statement said Rao governed with an inclusive vision, focusing on all sections of society and nurturing the state “like a young child”. It credited him with ushering in irrigation expansion and implementing flagship initiatives such as Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya, Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima and Dalit Bandhu, which it said placed Telangana on a development path.
The BRS alleged that the Congress came to power on “false promises and unrealistic assurances” and failed to implement its commitments within a year, leaving people disillusioned.
It said the issuance of notices to Rao in the name of inquiries was not genuine scrutiny but a deliberate act of political retaliation aimed at covering up administrative lapses and shifting focus away from unfulfilled promises.
“This is not an inquiry; this is revenge. This is not justice; this is political malice,” the statement said.
The party asserted that Rao remains a leader deeply embedded in the hearts of Telangana’s people and said history cannot be erased through notices or intimidation. It warned that insulting the Telangana movement and the state’s self-respect would invite a public response.
The BRS said it strongly condemns what it termed vindictive politics and will continue its fight against “unjust governance”, standing with the people and acting as their voice.
“Telangana’s history will not be written through inquiries, but through the people’s verdict,” the statement added.
