BRICS labour ministers adopt declaration, back India-proposed BRICS CONNECT
HYDERABAD: The 12th BRICS Labour and Employment Ministers’ Meeting adopted a declaration by consensus under India’s 2026 Chairship, with member countries also backing BRICS CONNECT, an India-proposed platform for knowledge-sharing and cooperation.
The meeting in Hyderabad was chaired by Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. India’s priorities included social security, women’s participation in the workforce, skilling and the use of digital technologies for workers’ welfare.

Mandaviya said India’s approach was guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision and the principle of “Humanity First”. He welcomed the consensus on BRICS CONNECT, saying the initiative would create a collaborative platform for knowledge-sharing and strengthen cooperation among BRICS countries.
The declaration, adopted by consensus, seeks to advance cooperation towards an inclusive, resilient and people-centric future of work.

The 12th ministerial meeting was scheduled in Hyderabad on July 15 and 16 under India’s 2026 BRICS Chairship. The preceding Employment Working Group discussions focused on labour-market priorities and negotiations on the draft declaration.
