Brave hostel owner thwarts knife-wielding phone snatchers

HYDERABAD: A man reportedly prevented two cell phone snatchers and helped in their arrest at Vengalrao Colony in Hyderabad.
The accused have been identified as residents of Rajiv Gruhakalpa in Kukatpally. The incident occurred near Joshua’s hostel,
which Joshua Kumar manages.
According to Inspector of Police D. Madhusudhan Reddy of Madhuranagar, the victim, Joshua Kumar, was on the street near his hostel when two individuals named Balbir Singh and Ram Singh approached him and asked him to make a call.

When asked, Joshua Kumar handed them his phone, but they tried to escape.
Realising their intention, Joshua Kumar quickly grabbed their bike keys to prevent their escape. In response, Balbir Singh and Ram Singh attacked Joshua Kumar, beating him and threatening him with a knife. Despite the threats and risks, Joshua Kumar courageously held on and refused to give up the keys.
Local hostel students witnessed the incident and filmed the entire episode on their mobile phones. They immediately came to Joshua Kumar’s aid and alerted the police.
Upon arrival, the Inspector of Police, D. Madhusudhan Reddy, arrested the two accused on the spot and sent them to jail.
The Inspector of Police revealed that the accused, Balbir Singh and Ram Singh, have no criminal record.
Joshua Kumar’s bravery and quick thinking, along with the support of the local students, ensured the culprits were caught and handed over to the authorities. Joshua Kumar was appreciated for his brave act.
A case was registered at Madhura Nagar Police Station.
