Alert auto driver thwarts abduction attempt of minor girl in Borabanda
Hyderabad: The quick thinking of an auto driver saved a minor girl from being kidnapped in Hyderabad on Tuesday night. The failed kidnapping incident occurred in Borabanda locality. The police have arrested five men for attempting to abduct the girl.
A 17-year-old girl and her friend took a sharing autorickshaw to Borandanda from Madhapur last evening. Two young men boarded the vehicle midway and one of them sat next to the girl and started misbehaving with her and also assaulted her friend, the police said.
The brave auto driver stopped the auto, confronted with the misbehaving youngsters and dropped them on the road. This enraged the suspects and the duo along with their three other associates who were following the autorickshaw on their bikes tried to attack the driver.
Fearing an escalation, the auto driver sped away in the auto along with the girl and her friend and after reaching Borabanda, he dropped the girl at her house, said Borabanda police.
The enraged group of youngsters also reached the place and attempted to kidnap the girl while she was getting down from the auto. As the girl raised an alarm, the locals came to her rescue and caught them. Meanwhile, the police arrived and took the accused persons into custody. A case has been registered and investigation is underway.
Recently, the Borabanda police had arrested a couple in connection with honey-trapping and murder of an auto driver in March 2023. The arrested duo killed the driver suspecting him of kidnapping and attempting to assault their 7-year-old daughter.
The deceased, identified as Kumar (30), a resident of Nizampet, had kidnapped their daughter and took her to his room in Yousufguda. The girl managed to escape the place while he attempted to assault her and she was later found by the police.
Meanwhile, the parents found the contact of Kumar in their daughterโs laptop. The mother created a fake Snapchat ID and honey trapped him. He was asked to meet them in Madhapur where they confronted him about their daughterโs kidnap. He told them their daughter had escaped and he didnโt make an attempt to locate her. The furious parents murdered him and threw his body into the Nagarjuna Sagar Left Canal in Suryapet.
