Bommarillu, Khadgam set to re-release on big screens for Telugu audiences
Hyderabad: Two beloved Telugu films, Bommarillu and Khadgam, are making a return to theaters, much to the excitement of fans.
Bommarillu, a 2006 Indian Telugu-language romantic comedy family drama, will be re-released on September 21, 2024. This announcement was made by Sri Venkateswara Creations on their official Instagram handle, stating, “A film that never fades. We are coming to spread happiness again on September 21.”
Directed and co-written by Bhaskar, Bommarillu marked his directorial debut and was produced by Dil Raju. The film stars Siddharth, Genelia, Prakash Raj, and Jayasudha. It explores the dynamics between a father and son, highlighting how the father’s overbearing nature leads to tension and resentment. The film’s cinematography was handled by Vijay C. Chakravarthy, with editing by Marthand K. Venkatesh, and the music was composed by Devi Sri Prasad. Released on August 9, 2006, Bommarillu received critical acclaim and was one of the highest-grossing Telugu films of the year. It won several Filmfare Awards and inspired remakes in Tamil, Bengali, Odia, and Hindi.

Khadgam, a 2002 Telugu-language action drama directed by Krishna Vamsi, will be re-released on October 2, 2024, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti. The re-release decision was announced by the director Krishna Vamsi on his X official handle.
Produced by Sunkara Madhu Murali under Karthikeya Movies, the film stars Srikanth, Ravi Teja, Prakash Raj, Sonali Bendre, Sangeetha Krish, and Kim Sharma, with music composed by Devi Sri Prasad. Released on November 29, 2002, Khadgam was a blockbuster, winning five Nandi Awards and three Filmfare Awards. It was later remade in Hindi as Insan (2005). The re-release of this classic follows the recent success of Krishna Vamsi’s Murari, which also saw a successful re-release.
