Eagle Force busts Balanagar ganja network in Operation Bhola

Hyderabad : The Eagle Force has revealed details of its operation against the alleged ganja network run by the Bolla Kiran brothers from Balanagar. The operation, which targeted a dead-drop method of supplying ganja to customers, was code-named “Operation Bhola”.
The operation began after the Eagle Force received information through its toll-free number 1908. Officials kept watch for about a month and traced the network supplying ganja from forest areas of Odisha to customers in Balanagar through dead drops.
Investigation begins after May 28 tip-off
On May 28 this year, the Eagle Force received information through 1908 that Satya Avinash, who was staying at a hostel in Kukatpally, was selling drugs such as MDMA and LSD.
Officials detained Avinash and conducted a drug test, which returned positive. During questioning, he told officials that he had ordered ganja through WhatsApp and made an online payment, after which a supplier delivered it through a dead-drop arrangement.
By July 7, Eagle Force officials had gathered key details about the dead-drop ganja network. The investigation found that 31 ganja dealers from Koraput district in Odisha were supplying ganja to the Bolla brothers in Balanagar.
230 customers traced, 80 test positive
Officials identified phone numbers linked to 230 customers of the Bolla brothers. They detained one consumer from Korutla and used him to place dummy orders online, enabling them to identify the dead-drop locations used by the Bolla brothers.
The officials then launched “Operation Bhola” on the night of August 12. The Bolla brothers, identified as key accused in the case, and five members of the Odisha-based ganja supply gang were arrested.
Eagle Force officials conducted drug tests on 100 consumers who had purchased ganja from the network. Eighty tested positive. Of these, 38 were sent to de-addiction centres, while the remaining consumers will also be sent to such centres soon, officials said.
Officials said they would conduct ganja tests on another 125 people whose phone numbers were found in the list of consumers.
