BJP MP Etela Rajender Slaps real estate Broker Over Land Encroachment in Pocharam

Hyderabad: A video that has gone viral on social media shows Malkajgiri BJP MP Etela Rajender slapping a real estate broker on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, in Pocharam village, Medchal.

Rajender is said to have acted after learning that the broker was involved in encroaching upon land owned by local residents in the area. The MPโ€™s visit followed complaints that real estate brokers, with the alleged support of police and revenue officials, were forging documents and illegally occupying vacant land belonging to the impoverished. Rajender, accompanied by several party leaders, confronted the broker at the site.

Upon arrival, Rajender confronted the broker and slapped him. A scuffle broke out between the two groups, with BJP leaders warning the broker to stop his illegal activities and threatening legal consequences if he continued. The situation escalated further as local residents, angered by the encroachment, joined the altercation.

Following the incident, Rajender spoke to the media, stating, โ€œI had informed the minister and the police that I would be coming here. Even as I arrived, their goons started making threats. Police, who are you supporting? Youโ€™ve lost all respect. If you donโ€™t protect the people, we will take matters into our own hands and remove these goons ourselves.โ€

He went on to say, โ€œThe police who received complaints from the victims did not take any action. The victims were threatened with stones. Real estate brokers, with the help of police and revenue officials, have been forging documents and encroaching on vacant land that belongs to the poor in and around Hyderabad.โ€

Rajender also pointed out, โ€œThe struggling individuals are being targeted. Iโ€™ve visited Arundhati Nagar, Balaji Nagar, and Jawahar Nagar. In those areas, people are building homes on small plots of land, but authorities are coming to demolish them. I have spoken to the revenue minister, the collector, and the police commissioner about this. Itโ€™s been six months since I became an MP, and I am witnessing the suffering of the poor every day.โ€

He added, โ€œThe colony’s residents are being threatened by encroachers fueling the violence. If the poor build their homes, these goons come and demolish them. Unfortunately, it seems the authorities and the police are supporting these illegal activities.โ€
